What is Reiki |
Reiki
is an ancient form of natural healing that
originated in Japan, it promotes relaxation, reduces
stress and a sense of wellbeing. It is
administered by "laying on hands" and is based on
the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows
through us and is what causes us to be alive. If
one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more
likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is
high, we are more capable of being happy and
healthy. |
The
word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which
means "God's Wisdom and knowledge or the Higher Power" and Ki
which is “universal life force energy”. So Reiki is actually
"spiritually guided life force energy."
A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance
that flows through and around you. Reiki treats the
whole person including the physical, mental,
emotional and spiritual body creating many beneficial effects that include
relaxation and feelings of peace, security and
wellbeing. Many have reported miraculous results.
Reiki originated in Japan and was re-discovered by
Dr Mikao Usui, a Japanese Buddhist monk early in the
20th century. Although Reiki evolved from Buddhist
tradition it is not linked to any form of religion.

What Happens during a Reiki session? |
Before a Reiki session I will take an initial
consultation to enable me to get an overall picture
of you, your general health and lifestyle.
At the start of the Reiki treatment you will be
asked to remove you shoes and any bulky jewellery;
lie fully clothed on your back on a couch or if you
prefer in a sitting position. After a Reiki session
it is very important to drink plenty of water to
allow the body to eliminate any toxins which Reiki
will help to release. |
Reiki
energy is transmitted through the hands of the
therapist to the receiver, starting at the persons
head and gradually moving along the body and
finishing at the feet.
Reiki can feel different to everyone. One person may
experience a deep sense of relaxation, another a
tingling sensation, others may experience the
therapist hands to be very hot or extremely cold.
Whatever is felt is right for that person. |
